General Motors has told 1,300 employees at its Detroit Hamtramck that they will be temporarily laid off for five weeks as the company halts production of the Chevrolet Volt and its European counterpart, the Opel Ampera.

Progressives are probably partying like rockstars (especially Anthony Weiner) over the news of the death of Andrew Breitbart, who passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

With one less man exposing corrupt politicians, organizations (ACORN), the corrupt bias mainstream media, and the failure of big government, the liberal politicians and bloggers are breathing a sigh of relief...

The Associated Press reported Breitbart was walking near his house in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles shortly after midnight when he collapsed.

Someone saw him fall and called paramedics, who tried to revive him, his father-in-law Orson Bean said. He was rushed to the emergency room at UCLA Medical Center where he died.

Breitbart had suffered heart problems a year earlier, Bean said, though he could not determine what happened.

Breitbart is survived by his wife Susannah Bean Breitbart, 41, and four children.

Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office told the AP a cause of death was unknown and an autopsy would “more than likely” be conducted.

Gerald Celente, a market analyst at the Trends Research Institute, believes Americans should brace themselves for what he calls an “economic 9/11.” He blames policymakers for their inability to solve the world’s financial and economic woes, according to the USA Today report.

Once the meltdown hits, he says, it will lead to social upheaval, anti-government sentiment, a devalued U.S. dollar, and skyrocketing unemployment.

“Celente won‘t rule out another financial panic that could spark enough fear to cause a run on the nation’s banks by depositors,” USA Today reports. “That risk could cause the government to invoke ‘economic martial law’ and call a ‘bank holiday’ and close banks as it did during the Great Depression.” READ MORE...

GOOD INTENTIONS? We say "intentional outcome." You decide on why (failing) public schools, and the war on poverty has actually harmed blacks...

Part 1

Walter Williams' PBS documentary Good Intentions based on his book, The State Against Blacks (1982). The documentary was very controversial at the time it was released and led to many animosities and even threats of murder.

In Good Intentions, Dr. Williams examines the failure of the war on poverty and the devastating effect of well meaning government policies on blacks asserting that the state harms people in the U.S. more than it helps them. He shows how government anti-poverty programs have often locked people into poverty making the points that:

Being forced to attend 3rd rate public schools leave students unprepared for working life.

Minimum wages prevent young people from obtaining jobs at an early age.

Licensing and labor laws have had the effect of restricting entrance of blacks into the skilled trades and unions.

The welfare system creates perverse incentives for the poor to make bad choices they otherwise would not.

Dr. Williams presents solutions to these problems: Part 2 and 3 below.

If you have any doubts, just look at todays current black unemployment, incarceration rates, drug use, teen pregnancy, poverty rates and the cities of Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia for starters.
